We raise Berkshire Hampshire cross pigs for meat.  This cross meat is known for being lean, flavorful and tender, combining the Berkshire's renowned marbling and richness with the Hampshire's good meat quality.

  • Flavor and richness: The meat inherits the Berkshire's characteristic richness, sweetness, and complex flavor due to it's excellent marbling, often compared to the "Wagyu of pork".
  • Tenderness:  The Hampshire's contribution to the cross enhances the meat's tenderness, leading to a desirable texture in the finished product.
  • Leanness:  The Hampshire breed helps produce a leaner pork, and combined with the Berkshire's marbling, it results in a balanced and healthy meat.

Purchasing info:

The process of purchasing a half or whole pig is as follows:

  • Contact us and let us know you would like to order a half or a whole pig
  • You will purchase the live pig from us and we will deliver it to Galloways for you
  • The pigs will go in for butchering at Galloway Meats once they hit an estimated weight of 275 lbs live weight.
  • You will pay us for the live pig, then upon completion of the butchering, you will pay Galloways for the butchering cost.
  • Galloways will butcher your pig to your specifications.  You will fill out the cut sheet for how you would like your pig processed.  Galloways can help you with any questions on that part of it.

  • Hanging weight $2.25 per lb - Paid to Gaumers
  • Slaughter fee - Paid to Galloways
    • Whole pig - $70.00 (flat fee)
    • Half pig - $35.00 (flat fee)
  • Carcass weight - Processing fee - Paid to Galloways
    • $0.66 per lb (hanging weight)
